London gaming journal

Dungeon-deep writing on the games worth your evenings.

Storm Dungeon Heroes is a Spitalfields writing studio covering RPGs, roguelikes and tabletop-inspired play — long-form guides, honest hardware notes, and the indie releases the big sites skip.

About the studio

A quiet room, a green wall, and far too many save files.

We started in 2016 as a two-person zine passed around East London game nights. Today a small team plays, breaks and writes about games from a plant-filled loft off Brick Lane — no clickbait, no review embargoes we won't disclose.

Every guide is written from a finished playthrough. Every hardware verdict comes after at least two weeks of daily use. If we didn't enjoy it, we say so.

How a piece gets made

From first boot to published guide

1

Play it fully

We finish the campaign or log 30+ hours before a single line is drafted. No verdicts from trailers.

2

Notes & captures

Builds, boss patterns and settings get logged live, with our own screenshots — never stock press kits.

3

Write & fact-check

A second editor replays the tricky sections to confirm every step, price and stat before it ships.

4

Publish & update

Guides are revisited after major patches so the advice still holds months after launch day.

Frequently asked questions

The blog

How often do you publish?

Two long-form pieces land every week, on Tuesday and Friday mornings UK time. Shorter patch notes and news posts appear in between when something worth flagging drops. Subscribers get the full piece by email the moment it goes live.

Do you take payment for reviews?

Never. We buy most games ourselves and clearly label the rare review copy sent by a studio. No coverage is ever paid for, and no verdict is agreed in advance. If a piece is sponsored — which is rare — it is marked at the top.

Membership

Is the newsletter free?

Yes — the weekly newsletter with every new guide is completely free. An optional supporter tier at £4/month unlocks the full archive, early access to boss guides, and a members-only monthly livestream. You can cancel any time from your account page.

Can I suggest a game to cover?

Absolutely, and we read every suggestion. Use the contact form below or email us directly — indie developers are especially welcome to get in touch. We prioritise dungeon crawlers, RPGs and roguelikes, but we play widely and love a surprise.
